Job 24-28 | #dailybible

I found today’s reading especially interesting. Job has been bemoaning his observation that the wicked are rewarded and the righteous are left out to dry. The first chapter is more of this: “From out of the city the dying groan,and the soul of the wounded cries for help; yet God charges no one with wrong.” However, soon after Bildad states the following;

“How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!”

Job get’s angry. He reminds Bildad of all God’s power, ending with saying “Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?” After this, he continues to maintain his own righteousness, but is now remembers that the wicked do get their punishment in the end.
